The SAGE Foundation (Shahani Academic and Global Empowerment Foundation) is a non-profit foundation with the mission of providing holistic, real world education to all children, regardless of financial status along with sustainable income to their families.
We have created an award winning, self sustaining system to achieve this mission. The system is briefly described below:
- A unique school curriculum, incorporating the best elements of educational systems from around the world, is taught to underprivileged children to give them the skills to thrive in the real world. Children will also be given the textbook knowledge they need to successfully pass Indian Board exams. However, this will be imparted in unique & fun ways that instill the love of learning in these children.
- This curriculum will be taught in various schools (both residential & non-residential) around India. Children of rich families will pay high fees to be taught this syllabus. These high fees will subsidize the education of underprivileged children in this system.
- The families of many poor children prefer to send them to work & not school because they need the income. SAGE Foundation will provide skills training & job work to the adult members of these families as long as they send their children to school. These family members will be paid to create ethnic clothes & handicrafts, which will be sold by Sage at its' retail outlets around the world. This method ensures that the families are motivated enough to send their children to our schools.
